Bazna is situated at half the distance between Sibiu and Sighisoara, in the Tarnavelor Plateau, at 350 km from Bucharest, at 100 km from Cluj Napoca, and just at an hour to drive from Targu Mures. The village is just at 15 km from Medias and at 75 km from the Airport of Sibiu.

The access to the village is made through DN (National Road) 14A Medias-Tarnaveni and from Blajel through DJ (County Road) 142B.

Bazna is composed of two villages: Boian, at 4 km and Velt, at 5 km.
In Bazna 3850 citizens are living at present: 2545 Romanians, 12 Germans, 137 Hungarians and 1156 Gypsies.

The approximate division on age groups is as follows:
- from 1 to 19 – 1166 persons
- from 19 to 65 – 1964 persons
- over 65 – 720 persons
